Workshops De Geus, Hilversum
Na een viertal sessies achter elkaar, hadden de deelnemers van een reeks workshops in Hilversum de smaak te pakken. Ik laat er zes zien. De eerste heeft een persoonlijke, diepere betekenis en is gemaakt door deelneemster Jacqueline. Zij vertelde dat ze de huidige tijd ervaart als 'de wereld staat op zijn kop.' Daarom heeft ze het zwevend eiland zo gemaakt dat je de afbeelding ook 180 graden kunt omdraaien. Kijk maar: de vogels onderin zijn daarom ondersteboven getekend.
After four consecutive sessions, the participants of a workshop series in Hilversum really got the hang of it. I'm showcasing six of them here. The first one holds a deep, personal meaning and was created by participant Jacqueline. She shared that she experiences the current times as 'the world turned upside down.' That is why she designed the floating island in a way that allows you to flip the image 180 degrees. Take a look: that’s why the birds at the bottom are drawn upside down.

Ik heb altijd al iets willen doen met "mixed media", maar ja, "waar en hoe begin je" ? Deze prints gaven mij net dat zetje om vanuit die ene vaas gewoon aan de slag te gaan. Het maakte mij eigenlijk niet uit hoe het resultaat zou zijn, ik ben gewoon lekker een paar uur bezig geweest met knippen, plakken en schilderen....heerlijk om te doen!

I’ve always wanted to try my hand at mixed media, but then again, where and how do you even start? These prints gave me just the nudge I needed to simply get to work, starting with that single vase. Honestly, I didn't really care what the result would be; I just spent a wonderful few hours cutting, pasting, and painting... so lovely to do!

De pakketen zijn veelzijdig van onderwerp en nodigen uit om toch net buiten je comfortzone te gaan. Ook de voor mij "uitdagende" afdrukken zijn een plezier om je fantasie op los te laten.
Ik gebruik zelf graag de dottechniek, die zijn oorsprong vindt in de Aboriginal cultuur. Deze eerste plaat was meer een vrije studie, dan een vast omlijnd plan.
Alles kan met deze platen.
Ik kijk er naar uit om met een nieuwe afbeelding aan de gang te gaan. Ontspannend en inspannend, een prima combinatie!

The kits feature highly versatile themes and truly invite you to step outside your comfort zone. Even the prints I found more 'challenging' were a joy to unleash my imagination on.
Personally, I love using the dotting technique, which originates from Aboriginal culture. This first piece was more of a free study than a set plan. You can do absolutely anything with these prints.
I'm really looking forward to getting started on a new image. Relaxing yet engaging—a perfect combination!

Door de stevige kwaliteit van het papier en de afmetingen van het ontwerp kon ik heel eenvoudig een foldertje vouwen. Geschikt voor bijvoorbeeld mijn boekenleggers, favoriete gedichten of behaalde successen. Ik kan het ook cadeau geven, met receptenkaartjes, (zelfgemaakte) cadeaubonnen of tips voor leuke uitjes.

Thanks to the sturdy quality of the paper and the dimensions of the design, it was incredibly easy to fold a little booklet. It’s perfect for holding things like my bookmarks, favorite poems, or milestones achieved. I could also give it as a gift, filled with recipe cards, (homemade) gift vouchers, or tips for fun days out.

Jeremie, Antwerpen
Jeremie kan dit nog niet zelf schrijven, daarom geef ik de achtergrond van zijn kunstwerk. Jeremie is bijna acht. Hij heeft deze plaat uit de Xmas Ornament Collection gekozen om iets voor zijn juf Katrien te maken. Na gepest en gediscrimineerd te zijn op zijn vorige school, is hij nu helemaal goed geland op de nieuwe school en heeft hij er heel erg naar zijn zin: goede resultaten en veel vriendjes.
Juf Katrien is de beste juf, dat is zijn stellige overtuiging. En dus vallen haar hartjes, sterren, rozen en veren ten deel om uiting te geven aan zijn waardering. Welke juf wil niet zo'n verklaring ontvangen?

Jeremie can’t write this by himself just yet, so I am sharing the story behind his artwork. Jeremie is almost eight. He chose this print from the Xmas Ornament Collection to make something special for his teacher, Katrien. After facing bullying and discrimination at his previous school, he has now truly found his feet at his new school and is absolutely loving it: he’s doing great and has made lots of friends.
He is firmly convinced that Ms. Katrien is the best teacher ever. And so, she is showered with hearts, stars, roses, and feathers to express his appreciation. What teacher wouldn't want to receive a tribute like that?
